Depending on where you live, Reading Recovery (offered in both English and French) may be implemented by the School Board or by your province’s Ministry of Education. Not every school in Canada currently implements the Reading Recovery intervention. Find out how you can get Reading Recovery in your child’s school.
Since its beginnings in New Zealand, Reading Recovery has been collecting annual data. This makes it one of the most fully researched early reading interventions in the world. In Canada, at the end of every school year, data is collected from every implementation in the country. The data is reviewed and analyzed by trained statistical analysts.
Year over year, results indicate that 75% of students are able to read and write at grade level by the end of the series of lessons. Every student that participates in a series of Reading Recovery lessons makes improvements in their reading and writing skills.
